Since childhood, he has shown remarkable musical talent. At the age of three and a half, he began to play the violin under the supervision of his father. His progress was influenced by the musical milieu of his home. For a long time he was known as a \u201cchild prodigy\u201d due to his advanced technique and unusually rounded expression. He gave his first concert at the age of 7. Already during his studies at the Basic Art School in Vr\u00fatky, he made some recordings for Slovak Radio.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 1993 at the age of 8, he took part in the International Kocian\u2019s Violin Competition in Ust\u00ed nad Orlic\u00ed (Czech Republic) where he won the Gold prize, and in 1994 at the age of 9, he won first prize at the J\u00e1n Cikker Festival in Bansk\u00e1 Bystrica, Slovakia. In 1995, at the age of 10, he took part in the violin interpretation course in Pie\u0161\u0165any under the leadership of Prof. Eduard Grach. In 1996, at the age of 11, he issued his first CD recording. In 1996, he also won the Gold prize at the VIII International Meeting of Young Musicians in Cordoba (Argentina) and at the Talentarium in Zl\u00edn (Czech Republic).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He is very grateful to Bohdan Warchal whose help resulted in his CD. With great diligence and hard work, Karvay has expanded on the skills that gave him concert success at such a young age. He undertook systematic study at the \u017dilina Conservatory with Prof. Bohumil Urban, and since 2000, has been a visiting student and then a regular student at the Vienna Conservatory in Austria. At present, he studies at Vienna\u2019s Konservatorium der Stadt Wien in the class of the well-known violin pedagogue, Prof. Boris Kuschnir, In 2002 he took part in a Master Course with Prof. Herman Krebbes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 2002, he won first prize at the Vienna Conservatory Competition. In the same year, he won two awards at the 11th Eurovision International Competition\u2014the Grand Prix Young Musician of the Year and the first prize. Among his most notable successes is the first place award at the Tibor Varga International Competition in Switzerland (2003). During his studies at the Vienna Conservatory, he has accepted offers to perform at Slovak festivals in his home country\u2014Vr\u00fatock\u00e1 hudobn\u00e1 jar 2001 (Vr\u00fatky Musical Spring), Trnavsk\u00e1 hudobn\u00e1 jar 2003 (Trnava Musical Spring), Bratislava Culture Summer 2003\u2014as well as at international events: the Bratislava Music Festival in 1994, a concert in the Vatican in honor of Pope John Paul II in 1995, a benefit concert for the United Nations, and The Week of Slovak Culture in Spain. He also performed at the Talentinum International Festival of Young Concert Artists in Zl\u00edn (1996, The Czech Republic), at the 37th International \u201cMoravian Autumn\u201d Festival in Brno (The Czech Republic), and at the Central European Festival in \u017dilina (2003, Slovakia). In addition, he performed concerts in Europe, South America, North Africa and Asia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He worked with conductors such as Ernest Theis, Leo\u0161 Sv\u00e1rovsky, Oliver Dohn\u00e1nyi, Herman Engels, Petr Vronsky, Karol Kevick\u00fd, Ondrej Len\u00e1rd and (the) others. He has performed with many orchestras: the Rundfunk Symfonieorchester Berlin, the Solistes Europ\u00e9ens Luxembourg, the Radio Symphonieorchester Vienna, the English Chamber Orchestra, the Bohuslav Martin\u016f Philharmonic Orchestra in Zl\u00edn, the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, the Ko\u0161ice State Philharmonic Orchestra, the \u017dilina State Chamber Orchestra, etc.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He is also engaged in playing chamber music as a member of a piano trio: Dalibor Karvay (violin), Milan Karanovi\u010d (violoncello), Stefan Stroissnig (piano).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.daliborkarvay.sk\/\">http:\/\/www.daliborkarvay.sk\/<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"subcontent\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>He was born in Vr\u00fatky, Slovakia on 24 July 1985.
