Since his debut with Leonard Bernstein and the New Yourk Filharmonic in 1962, Gary KARR has performed as soloist on six continents \u00a0with orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Montreal Symphony, Simon Bolivar Orchestra (Caracas, Venezuela), Jerusalem Symphony, Oslo Philharmonic, Zurich Chamber Orchestra, and with all the major orchestras of Australia. He had a concert in Slovakia 16 years ago during 34.year of Slovak music festival BHS.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 1967 Karr founded the\u00a0International Society of Bassists\u00a0(ISB), an organization devoted to the study, promotion, and advancement of\u00a0double bass\u00a0playing around the world. In 2005, Karr donated his primary instrument, the\u00a0<i>Karr-Koussevitzky<\/i>\u00a0bass, to the ISB. This instrument was given to Karr by Olga Koussevitzky, widow of\u00a0Serge Koussevitzky\u00a0(1874\u20131951), in 1961.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He has taught double bass on the faculties of the\u00a0Juilliard School,\u00a0New England Conservatory,\u00a0The Hartt School,\u00a0Yale University,\u00a0Indiana University, and\u00a0North Carolina School of the Arts\u00a0and has published a number of instructional books for the double bass.
