Bartosz Koziak (born December 2, 1980 in Zakopane) is one of the most prominent Polish cellists of the middle generation. In the music world, critics frequently describe him as a “visionary and poet of the cello” due to his deep and emotional interpretations of both classical and contemporary works. He graduated with Magna cum Laude honors from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and later expanded his education at the prestigious Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. Currently, he serves as a professor at the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, where he passes on his expertise to young talents. He is the winner of the 3rd Witold Lutosławski International Cello Competition in Warsaw and has earned top prizes at competitions in Kyiv, Tongyeong (South Korea), and the Prague Spring festival. For many years, he regularly collaborated with one of the world’s greatest composers and conductors, Krzysztof Penderecki. As a soloist, he has performed with prestigious orchestras such as the Warsaw Philharmonic and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo. Thanks to the kindness of violinist Kaja Danczowska, he performs on a rare 19th-century instrument, which is a faithful copy of the famous master J. B. Guadagnini.
