Stanislav (Stano) Palúch is one of the most prominent, versatile, and highly sought-after violinists on the Slovak music scene. As a multi-genre virtuoso, arranger, and composer, he seamlessly crosses the boundaries between classical music, jazz, swing, folklore, and world music. He is widely recognized for his extraordinary stylistic flexibility, improvisational brilliance, and energetic performing expression.
He acquired his musical foundation during childhood under the guidance of his father, a period deeply rooted in traditional folklore. He subsequently pursued formal violin studies at the Žilina Conservatory in the class of Bohumil Urban, and completed his higher musical education at the Academy of Performing Arts (VŠMU) in Bratislava under the pedagogical guidance of the legendary professor Bohdan Warchal. During his studies, he became a laureate of nationwide conservatory competitions and refined his artistry at international masterclasses led by renowned global pedagogues.
Already during his university years, Palúch began profiling himself as a leading jazz performer. In 2004, he co-founded the highly successful and now-iconic PaCoRa Trio (alongside Moldavian cymbalom virtuoso Marcel Comendant and double bassist Róbert Ragan). The trio garnered international acclaim for its highly original blending of jazz standards with traditional Slavic and Balkan folklore roots.
In addition to this flagship project, he remains a cornerstone of numerous other significant ensembles, such as the genre-blending project Bashavel, the Nothing But Swing Trio, Slovak Nuevo Quinteto, Triango, and the ALEA formation. In the realm of classical and early music, he has regularly collaborated with esteemed ensembles including Solamente naturali, Capella Istropolitana, and the Mladí bratislavskí sólisti (Young Bratislava Soloists).
As a soloist and chamber musician, Palúch has performed in most European countries as well as the USA. He is a frequent guest at major classical, jazz, and world music festivals (including the Bratislava Jazz Days and the Bratislava Music Festival). For his exceptional contribution to the music scene and his interpretive mastery, he has been nominated for the prestigious Slovak music award Aurel in the category of Instrumentalist of the Year.
Stanislav Palúch is also one of the most prolific studio artists in Slovakia; as a performer and co-author, he has contributed to the recording of more than 50 music albums across various genres. He has left an equally significant mark as a composer and arranger. He is the author of highly successful, full-length music-and-dance programs for the Slovak State Traditional Dance Ensemble (SĽUK), and has composed scores for several theater productions and film projects.
