He was a private pupil of Lajos Montag from 1977 to 1992. He studied at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music (Budapest) with Aladár Pege and Zoltán Tibay, obtaining his diploma in 1986 and his Doctor of Liberal Arts degree in 2009. From 1984 he has been a member of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra (formerly the Hungarian State Orchestra), in which he became principal bass in 1995. He has been a professor at the Music Academy in Budapest since 1987, and in 2002 he established an annual Double Bass Summer School in Tata. He also performs regularly as a soloist and is a member of the UMZE (New Hungarian Musical Society) Chamber Ensemble.
